Introduction
Dang Thanh Tam was born on April 15, 1964, in Hai Phong, Vietnam. He is a prominent Vietnamese businessman in real estate and industrial park development. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation (KBC) and Chairman of Sai Gon Telecommunications Technology Joint Stock Company.
Education and Early Career
Tam graduated as a Marine Engineer from Vietnam Maritime University. He worked at Saigon Shipping Company for eight years, from 1988 to 1996, gaining valuable management experience.
Business Career
Since 1996, Tam has held leadership positions at several companies, notably as Chairman and General Director of Kinh Bac City Development, Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corporation, and Sai Gon Telecommunications Technology. Under his leadership, KBC has become a leading enterprise in industrial park and urban area development in Vietnam.
In 2007, when KBC and Tan Tao were listed on the stock exchange, Tam quickly became the richest person in Vietnam on the stock market. In the following three years (2008, 2009, 2010), he ranked third among the richest people in Vietnam.
He has actively participated in economic integration, serving as a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Business Forum, member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and advisory member of the World Economic Forum.
Other Activities
Besides business, Tam has held positions such as Deputy of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City (2004-2009), Deputy of the People's Council of Binh Chanh District, and Deputy of the National Assembly (XIII term, 2011-2016). He was the first non-state businessman to receive the First-Class Labor Medal from the President, along with certificates of merit from the Prime Minister and the City People's Committee.
Recent Projects
In recent years, KBC has continued to expand with major projects such as Que Vo Industrial Park Expansion 2 in Bac Ninh, Trang Cat Urban and Service Area in Hai Phong, and Song Hau 2 Industrial Park in Hau Giang. His children have also been involved in corporate governance, with his son appointed as Deputy General Director and his daughter nominated to the Board of Directors of KBC.
