Early Career

Born Nguyễn Thanh Tùng on 5 July 1994 in Thái Bình City, Thái Bình Province, Sơn Tùng learned to play the organ as a child at the Thái Bình Children's Culture Palace. In 2009 he formed Over Band with classmates, later joining the hip-hop group Young Pilots under the stage name M-TP. In 2012 he was admitted to the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and signed a five-year contract with Văn Production, adopting the full stage name Sơn Tùng M-TP.

Breakthrough and Rise

His breakthrough came in August 2011 when the single "Cơn mưa ngang qua," released on Zing MP3, drew 1.7 million streams within two months and won a Favorite Song award as well as a Zing Music Award for R&B Song. In 2013-2014, hits "Em của ngày hôm qua" and "Chắc ai đó sẽ về" cemented his mainstream stardom. In 2014 he starred in the film "Dandelion" (Chàng trai năm ấy), winning the Golden Kite Award for Young Prominent Actor. In late 2016 he founded his own label, M-TP Entertainment. His 2017 compilation "m-tp M-TP" featured hits "Lạc trôi" and "Nơi này có anh," and in 2018 "Chạy ngay đi" made him the first V-pop artist to reach 3 million YouTube subscribers.

Continued Milestones

In 2019 he collaborated with Snoop Dogg on "Hãy trao cho anh" and headlined the Sky Tour concert. A 2020 Netflix documentary, "Sky Tour Movie," was released in 190 countries. In 2021, "Muộn rồi mà sao còn" charted on Billboard Global Excl. US. In 2022 he received YouTube's Diamond Play Button for surpassing 10 million subscribers and released the EP "Sky Decade" along with the English-language single "There's No One at All." He remains one of Vietnam's most influential pop artists, continuing to release new music.

Sơn Tùng was publicly linked in a long-term relationship with singer Thiều Bảo Trâm from 2013 to 2021. He does not currently have a publicly confirmed spouse or partner with a documented birth year.
