Tùng Dương

Introduction

Tùng Dương is a Vietnamese experimental singer known for his distinctive musical style and a career spanning over two decades. He has been referred to by domestic media as the "DIVO of Vietnamese music".

Music Career

Tùng Dương gained attention with music products bearing his personal imprint. In 2007, he released his second album titled "Những ô màu khối lập phương" (The Colored Cubes), working with musician Đỗ Bảo. The album was recorded at night to preserve its creative spirit, with many vocalizations improvised during studio sessions.

One of the songs closely associated with Tùng Dương is "Con cò" (The Stork). He shared that this song touched the hearts of Vietnamese people, with the image of the stork symbolizing the light and dark shades and the emotions of human life.

In recent years, Tùng Dương has continued to reinvent himself through products such as "Một vòng Việt Nam" (A Round of Vietnam) and "Tái sinh" (Rebirth). "Tái sinh" was written by Tăng Duy Tân and Drum7, released with the goal of reaching younger audiences. Tùng Dương said he asked Tăng Duy Tân to write a song that could be listened to by all ages. The song later became a phenomenon and was widely received by the public.

Artistic Perspective

Tùng Dương has shared that he believes making music is about bringing happiness to people. He has also expressed openness to collaborating with young artists, stating that one should listen and integrate into their world rather than impose one's own thoughts. He commented that collaboration between generations of artists can create breakthroughs in music.

Awards

At the 2025 Cống hiến Music Awards, Tùng Dương received his 14th Cống hiến trophy in his career in the Song of the Year category with "Tái sinh". He said he thought his collection had stopped at the 13th trophy, and decided to dedicate this trophy to his younger cousin, musician Tăng Duy Tân.
