In modern practice, it uses a person's full solar birth date and name to compute several meaningful numbers, most notably the Life Path Number.
The Life Path Number is calculated by summing all digits of the birth day, month and year, then reducing the total to a single digit by repeatedly summing its digits, unless an intermediate sum is 11, 22, or 33, a "Master Number" that is not reduced further.
Example: born 15 June 1995 → 1+5+6+1+9+9+5 = 36 → 3+6 = 9, giving a Life Path Number of 9. Example with a Master Number: if the intermediate sum is 29 → 2+9 = 11 → stop at 11, since it's a Master Number, rather than reducing to 1+1=2.
Number meanings 1–9: 1 (pioneer, independent leader), 2 (mediator, sensitive, cooperative), 3 (creative, expressive, sociable), 4 (practical, disciplined, builds solid foundations), 5 (freedom-loving, adventurous), 6 (responsible, nurturing, family-oriented), 7 (analytical, introspective, deep thinker), 8 (drives toward material success, power, management), 9 (altruistic, idealistic, community-minded).
Master Numbers 11, 22, 33 carry especially strong energy along with greater challenges: 11 (intuition, inspiration), 22 ("Master Builder," large-scale creation), 33 ("Master Teacher," leading through love).
Beyond the Life Path Number, a full Pythagorean profile also includes the Expression Number (from the full name), Soul Urge Number (from vowels in the name), and Personality Number (from consonants), each reflecting a different facet: life purpose, inner desire, and outward impression.
