Biography
Lê Công Vinh was born on December 10, 1985, in Quỳnh Lưu district, Nghệ An province, Vietnam. Nicknamed "CV9," he is widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers in Vietnamese football history.
Career
Vinh began his professional career at Sông Lam Nghệ An (2002–2008), then moved to Hà Nội T&T (2009–2011), winning the V.League title in 2010. He had loan spells at Portuguese club Leixões SC (2009) and Japanese club Consadole Sapporo (2013), also playing for Hà Nội ACB and returning to Sông Lam Nghệ An, before finishing his career at Becamex Bình Dương (2015–2016), where he won another V.League title in 2015 prior to retiring.
With the Vietnam national team, Vinh earned 83 caps and scored 51 goals between 2004 and 2016, a scoring record that still stands as the all-time high for the national team. He was a key figure in Vietnam's 2008 AFF Championship title, scoring the decisive goal in the second leg of the final against Thailand. He won the Vietnamese Golden Ball award three times (2004, 2006, 2007) and was V.League top scorer in multiple seasons. In 2014, he became the first Vietnamese player to score 100 goals in the V.League.
Personal Life
Vinh married singer Thủy Tiên on December 27, 2014, in her hometown of Rạch Giá, Kiên Giang, after nearly six years together. The couple has one daughter, Lê Trần Diễm Quỳnh, born January 2, 2013. Since retiring, Vinh has worked as a coach and football commentator and, alongside his wife, has been involved in extensive charity work, most notably the 2020 central Vietnam flood relief campaign.
