Wedding date picker

Wedding-date ranking here weighs each day in your range by auspicious hours, each person's own fit, and the months traditionally avoided. Which months those are varies by region: the seventh lunar month is avoided almost everywhere, the third only in some places. Two families from two regions can therefore see the same date quite differently.

Rank every day in the range you choose by auspicious hours, each partner's own suitability, and months folk custom avoids. This page does NOT judge whether the couple are compatible and gives no compatibility percentage.

How a wedding date is chosen here, and why we give no compatibility score

Choosing a wedding date in Vietnam usually reads the lunar calendar alongside the ages of bride and groom. This page takes a range you choose and ranks EVERY day within it, rather than returning a handful, because two families also have to fit each other's schedules, the venue and the rainy season, so you need the whole picture rather than three suggestions.

Four criteria are used, and published. First, auspicious days: the count of auspicious hours serves as the baseline signal. Second, suitability scored separately for the groom and for the bride. Third, months that custom avoids. Fourth, an optional weekend preference that only affects ordering when you switch it on; it removes nothing.

On the second criterion the page takes the LOWER of the two ratings as the shared one, not the average. The reason is concrete: an average hides the case where one partner's day is strongly unfavourable and the other's is excellent, and that is precisely what you need to see. Both individual ratings are shown so you can tell why one day outranks another.

On avoided months, only the seventh lunar month loses points. The third lunar month is avoided in some regions but not nationally, so applying it to everyone would impose one region's custom on another. That is a deliberate choice, not an omission.

One thing this page deliberately does NOT do: judge whether the couple's ages are compatible, or score compatibility as a percentage. A line like "you are 43% compatible" can postpone or cancel a wedding, while resting on nothing more than two birth years. That is more weight than such arithmetic can carry. The page picks days; it does not appraise a marriage.

For the same reason the list is ALWAYS ranked within the range you chose. If every day in it scores poorly, the page still names the best-placed one rather than announcing that the range holds no good days, a statement that sends people looking for a paid service willing to tell them what they want to hear.

Finally, settling the date is a small part of it. The hour of the procession, both families' calendars, the health of older relatives, whether the venue has space, and the rains back home shape a smooth wedding far more than the day's stem and branch.

Frequently asked questions

Does the page tell us whether our ages are compatible?

No, and that is deliberate. The page chooses a DAY; it does not appraise a marriage. A verdict of incompatibility, or a compatibility percentage, can postpone or cancel a wedding while resting on two birth years alone, more weight than this arithmetic can carry.

Why take the lower of the two ratings instead of the average?

Because an average hides the case where one partner's day is strongly unfavourable while the other's is excellent, and that is exactly what you need to see. Taking the lower keeps the warning. Both individual ratings are still shown.

What do I need to enter?

The range of dates you are considering and both birth years. No names, no birth day, month or hour are needed, because the criteria in use read only the birth year.

What if every day in the range scores poorly?

The page still ranks them and names the best-placed day within the range you chose; it never declares the range empty of good days. You can widen the range for more options, but you do not have to.

Why is the third lunar month not penalised?

Because avoiding it is regional rather than national. Penalising it for everyone would impose one region's custom on another. If your family observes it, simply skip those days when picking from the list.

Should the engagement and the wedding fall on different days?

That depends on each family's and region's custom. The page ranks days by the criteria above, and you can use the same list for both occasions, but the order and the gap between the two ceremonies are for the two families to agree.

Is there a scientific basis for the result?

No. This is folk knowledge, best read as cultural reference rather than a forecast about the marriage. The score is this site's own ranking convention, published so it can be checked, not a shared standard.
