What this prayer says
The phụng minh tinh nghi tiết together with the words of announcement at the ancestral hall, used on the last night of the wake before burial. The rite in turn offers incense, pours wine, bows, and carries the minh tinh banner out to the ancestral hall and back to the funeral bier, with words of announcement asking the ancestors to let the spirit of the deceased return home and to report at the ancestral hall.
The prayer below is kept in Vietnamese, the language it is read aloud in during the rite.

This text is the version from the South.
How it differs from the common version
The ceremonial directions chanted in Sino-Vietnamese pronunciation with two short lines of announcement ("Tương hoàn u trạch, nghệ yết từ đường. Cẩn cáo"); the minh tinh banner is carried before the coffin to the từ đường; no Buddhist chanting, no bowing to each deity individually.
The common version: Prayer text for the Chầu Tổ ceremony (Triều Tổ lễ cáo)
