Part 1The three things that stand out most in your chart

Money made by your own hands is the root of this chart, and the transformation sitting on it is hoá kỵ, the turn that clouds what it touches.

Vũ Khúc (the major star read as money and decisiveness) sits in your Mệnh (the palace about oneself) palace carrying that hoá kỵ, so the pull between wanting security and wanting to start over is written into the design rather than picked up along the way.

That pull shows in how carefully you weigh a change before you make it, even when the change is clearly good for you.

You are the one who notices what is missing before anyone else does, and it keeps you quietly on edge. Địa Không and Địa Kiếp meet your Mệnh palace in the tam hợp (the three-palace group), which the tradition reads as energy that scatters when you grip one outcome too hard. So the worry is not about money itself, it is about holding a single answer too tightly.

Underneath the competence, you want your effort to be seen and named, and you go quiet when it is not. The strain shows up as two people who both go silent instead of arguing.

Part 2The question you brought

Interpretation

Both doors keep you moving and dealing with people, so the real question is how thin a first year you are willing to carry.

You have worked as an accountant at a small company for six years and are weighing a move to a larger firm or starting your own bookkeeping service, married with a young child, and you worry about unsteady income in the first year after a change.

That worry has a shape on your chart: the Quan Lộc (the palace about work) palace holds Tử Vi (the leading major star, read as the one in charge) carrying hoá quyền and Tham Lang at hãm địa beside it.

The common reading of the school is that a strong Tử Vi in the career palace marks someone who runs things rather than is run, while Tham Lang (the major star read as desire and socialising) in a weak position says the running happens through people and movement rather than a fixed desk.

Read plainly: you are built for a role where you decide, not one where you only process. That is the thing to keep in view while you weigh the two doors.

The move to a larger firm is the safer of the two, and your chart does not argue against it. The same Quan Lộc palace also meets Triệt, and Triệt cuts what stands still, so a place with a long ladder and fixed rules will feel fine for a while and then start to itch.

What the larger firm buys you is exactly what you said you need: a predictable number landing every month while your child is small. What it costs is the part of you that wants to be the one signing off. That is a real trade, not a wrong choice.

Starting your own bookkeeping service draws on a different part of the same chart.

The Thiên Di (the palace about life away from home) palace holds Thiên Tướng (the major star read as the aide who keeps balance) at đắc địa with Tả Phù carrying hoá khoa, and the common reading of the school is that this pairing brings help through people you meet outside your own walls and lets reputation do the work of advertising.

The same palace is where Vũ Khúc carrying hoá kỵ sits by reflection, and hoá kỵ is the knot that makes money feel tight or delayed.

So the honest picture is this: clients can come and work can be steady, but the first stretch will feel thinner than the numbers on paper. That thinness is the price of the freedom, not a sign you chose wrong.

What to do

  1. This Friday evening, write one page with two columns: what the larger firm gives you that you do not have now, and what it takes away. You tend to hold both sides in your head until they blur, and seeing them side by side on paper will let you choose faster.
  2. On Sunday afternoon this week, book one hour to sketch what your first three months of your own service would actually look like, week by week. You plan best when the picture is concrete, and an hour of that will tell you whether the idea excites you or only sounds good.
  3. Before your next talk about the move, write down the monthly figure your household needs and keep it in front of you. You carry the numbers quietly in your head, and having the number on paper will stop you from deciding on feeling alone.

Twelve palaces laid out by the twelve branches. Each shows its major and minor stars; stars carrying one of the four transformations are marked.

What the books say

巳亥宫和平,与破军同度,壬戊生人财官格。

In the Tỵ and Hợi palaces it is harmonious, and when it is together with Phá Quân, for people born in a Nhâm or Mậu year this is a wealth-and-career structure.[1]

十二宫中惟身命、田宅、财帛为要,主富。

Among the twelve palaces, only the Thân palace, the Mệnh palace, the Điền Trạch palace and the Tài Bạch palace are of importance; it governs wealth.[1]

Interpretation

You are built to rebuild, and the same intensity that wears you down is what keeps you standing.

You want the ground firm before you take a step, and that is not timidity, it is how you are wired.

Your Mệnh palace holds Vũ Khúc in hãm địa carrying hoá kỵ, standing together with Phá Quân (the major star read as breaking the old to build anew), and that pairing is the Sát Phá Lang structure, the three stars of upheaval.

Ziwei Doushu Quanshu reads this placement as harmonious in the Tỵ and Hợi palaces, and for someone born in a Nhâm year it forms a wealth-and-career structure.

So the pull you feel between wanting security and wanting to start over is written into the design, not a flaw you picked up along the way. You do your best remaking when there is a base under you.

You keep something back for a bad month without being asked, and people read that steadiness as calm.

Your Phúc Đức (the palace about inner life) palace holds Thiên Phủ (the major star read as the storehouse and keeping), the quiet storing star, drawing Liêm Trinh, Thất Sát, Địa Không and Thiên Tài toward it from the opposite side. Ziwei Doushu Quanshu says that among the twelve palaces, Lộc Tồn matters most in the Thân, Mệnh, Điền Trạch and Tài Bạch palaces, and that it governs wealth.

Your Lộc Tồn (the minor star read as gain kept in store) sits in your Mệnh palace, so that reserve lives inside you rather than in your surroundings. In plain terms, you have a deep well of patience, and it is what keeps you standing when the ground shifts.

What wears you down is that you do not let yourself rest until everything is settled, and you can sit in the worst case for weeks.

Your Địa Không and Địa Kiếp converge on your Mệnh palace from the tam hợp, forming the Không Kiếp đồng hội structure, which the tradition treats as a dispersal pattern to be handled with care rather than a fixed fate.

What that means for you is that when you grip one outcome too hard, the energy scatters and you lose the thread. Loosen the grip, hold the direction, and the same restlessness becomes the thing that moves you forward.

What to do

  1. This Saturday morning, sit down for twenty minutes and write one page titled 'What I already know how to do', listing every task you can finish without asking anyone for help. You tend to undercount your own skill and overcount what you still need to learn, and seeing the list on paper corrects that faster than thinking about it.
  2. On Sunday evening, before the week starts, pick one decision you have been circling for more than a week and set a date by which you will simply choose. You can hold a question open far longer than it deserves, and giving it an end date frees the hours you would otherwise spend turning it over.
  3. Twice this week, once on Wednesday and once on Friday, spend fifteen minutes writing down what you did well that day before you write down what went wrong. You are quick to catch your own mistakes and slow to credit your own work, and reversing the order retrains that reflex.

The books never read a palace alone: the opposite palace and the two palaces in trine shine on it together.

Interpretation

You do your best work where you set the terms and keep the record clear.

Six years in one small office has taught you something about yourself: you like knowing exactly who signs off on what, and you get restless when the ground under a job keeps shifting.

Your Quan Lộc palace holds Tử Vi [the Emperor star] carrying hoá quyền [the transformation that grants authority], with Tham Lang [the wolf star] sitting in hãm địa [the weakened position], and the whole palace meets Triệt [a cutting influence].

The common reading of the school is that authority of this kind works best when you are the one setting the terms, not waiting for someone above you to define them.

So the question is not whether you can carry weight. It is whether you are standing somewhere that lets you.

You have probably noticed that your best stretches at work came when you were moving, meeting people, solving something on the spot rather than sitting still.

The Thiên Di palace [the palace of going out into the world] is đắc địa [in a strong position] with Thiên Tướng [the Minister star] there, and Tả Phù [the Left Assistant] in that same palace carries hoá khoa [the transformation of recognition].

The popular reading is that stepping outside your usual circle, taking the meeting, going to the client rather than waiting for the file to arrive, is where doors open for you.

It also means a larger firm with more people to learn from suits you better than a quiet room with one desk.

Movement is not a distraction for you. It is the method.

Here is the part that catches people with your chart, and it is worth naming plainly. Địa Không and Địa Kiếp [two stars tied to sudden loss and empty effort] both reach your Quan Lộc palace, and they are known for turning a solid plan into months of loose ends.

In practice that looks like a role that sounds well defined in the interview and then quietly changes shape three months in, or a client who keeps renegotiating what was agreed. The way through is not to avoid ambition.

It is to write down, before you commit, what the first ninety days actually require of you, and to check that against what you are being told. Vague promises are the thing to watch, not hard work.

You have a young child and a household that depends on your income being predictable, so the sensible approach is to build the new thing on top of the old one rather than in place of it.

Nô Bộc (the palace about friends and colleagues) [the palace of colleagues and subordinates] holds Cự Môn (the major star read as speech and debate) [the Gate star] in hãm địa, which the common reading links to friction in close working relationships, especially when instructions are left unsaid. That is not a reason to avoid people.

It is a reason to be unusually explicit with the people you work alongside, and to keep a written record of what was agreed.

In a bigger firm, that habit protects you. In your own practice, it is the whole business.

What to do

  1. This week, before any talk about a new role, write one page listing the five tasks you want to be doing day to day in two years. You tend to weigh a decision for weeks without naming what you actually want, and putting the tasks on paper turns a vague wish into something you can check a job against.
  2. On a weekday evening this week, send one short message to a former colleague or classmate you respect and ask for twenty minutes to hear how their firm is set up. You do better when you are moving and talking to people than when you are deciding alone, and one conversation tells you more about a workplace than any job posting will.
  3. Before your next meeting with a manager or a client, write down three things you expect and three things they can expect. You are precise by nature, and saying expectations out loud keeps a working relationship from drifting into guesswork later.

Part 5Money

What the books say

天机退祖新创置

Thiên Cơ in the Điền Trạch palace: stepping back from ancestral property and newly setting up and buying one's own.[1]

Interpretation

Your money comes in through effort and contact, and it stays only if you make it hard to reach once it lands.

Money has probably never arrived for you in a tidy, predictable line.

It comes in bursts, often when you are out meeting people or solving something on the spot, and it can slip away just as fast when you are not watching.

Your chart puts Liêm Trinh and Thất Sát together in the Tài Bạch palace, both at đắc địa, which is the classical picture of earning through nerve and contact rather than through a quiet salary alone.

The old texts read Liêm Trinh in the wealth palace as money won in the middle of noise and competition, with Thất Sát beside it marking a fighter's income. So your earning power is real, but it answers to effort and movement, not to waiting.

There is a second thing in the same palace, and it is worth naming plainly. Địa Không rests there alongside Thiên Tài, and your Mệnh carries Vũ Khúc with hoá kỵ, so the chart keeps pointing at the same soft spot: money that arrives has a habit of leaving through a gap you did not plan.

In everyday terms, you are someone who can earn well and still feel the account is thinner than it should be. That is not a verdict on your future, it is a description of a pattern you can work with. The answer is not to earn more, it is to put the money somewhere less easy to spend.

Watch what happens in a good month.

A bonus or a strong invoice clears, it sits in the same account you spend from, and by the end of the month you cannot say where it went.

Your Điền Trạch (the palace about home) palace holds Thiên Cơ (the major star read as planning and adapting) at hãm địa, and Ziwei Doushu Quanshu says of this star in that palace that a person steps back from what was handed down and builds their own ground instead.

Read for you, that line is not about property; it says nothing financial was passed to you and everything you hold, you assembled yourself. Which is exactly why the money you build deserves a wall around it.

What to do

  1. On the day your next pay or payment clears, move a fixed amount into a separate account before you pay anything else. You tend to let money sit where you can see it and then spend from the same place, so putting it out of easy reach first keeps it from quietly disappearing.
  2. This Sunday, open your last three months of statements and mark every charge you cannot explain within ten seconds. You are precise with other people's books but not always with your own, and seeing the pattern on paper makes the gap obvious without any guessing.
  3. On the first of next month, write down what you expect to come in and what must go out, and keep it to one page. You like knowing exactly where you stand, and a single page you can check in a minute will calm the worry that runs ahead of the actual numbers.

Part 6Love and marriage

Interpretation

You love by building something side by side, and the distance starts on the days you manage instead of talk.

What you want from a partner is rarely said out loud, but you know it the moment you feel it: someone who notices what you did, says so, and means it. Praise lands on you harder than criticism, which surprises people who only see the competent side.

Your Phu Thê (the palace about marriage) palace is vô chính diệu, so it is read through the palace facing it, and what faces it is Tử Vi carrying hoá quyền, the transformation of authority. That is the common reading of the art for a palace like this: the person you build a life with takes up real space, and so do you.

The friction is not coldness. It is two people who both expect to be taken seriously, and who both go quiet rather than argue.

You have probably noticed that you run the household the way you run a ledger: accurately, quietly, and without being asked. You keep the child's schedule straight, you remember the renewals, you are the one who checks the balance.

Hữu Bật (the minor star read as helpers) sits in your Phu Thê palace, and the old reading of that star in this position is that it points to a partner who shares the load rather than adds to it. Read plainly, that means the help you need is available, but it comes only when you ask for it by name.

What wears you down is not the work itself. It is carrying it in silence and then feeling unseen.

There is a second star in the same palace, Đào Hoa, and it is worth naming honestly. In the common reading of the art, this is the star of warmth, charm and attraction, and in the marriage palace it says you are someone people find easy to like. That is not a warning about anyone's behaviour.

It is a plain description of how you come across: warm, attentive, easy to talk to. The thing to watch is the gap between that warmth and what you actually say at home. You can be generous with a stranger and clipped with the person beside you, simply because you have run out of words by evening.

You are at your best when the two of you are building something visible together, a plan, a house, a child's year. When there is nothing shared to work on, you drift toward managing instead of talking, and that is where the distance starts.

Tử Vi and Tham Lang reach your Phu Thê palace by xung chiếu, and the reading most practitioners follow is that Tử Vi does not do well standing alone; it needs people around it to be of use. That is a fair picture of how you love.

It is not a fault in the marriage. It is a habit you can change this week.

What to do

  1. On Thursday evening this week, tell the person you live with one specific thing you need help with next week, and name the day. You tend to carry tasks silently and then feel unseen, and saying it out loud once removes the guesswork for both of you.
  2. This Saturday, take thirty minutes together to put one shared plan on paper, even something small like a trip or a repair. You are at your best when the two of you are building something visible, and a concrete plan gives that warmth somewhere to go.
  3. Before bed on Sunday, write down one thing that stung this week and one sentence you would rather have said at the time. You replay conversations quietly for days, and writing the sentence once lets you bring it up calmly instead of letting it sit.

Part 7Family: parents, siblings, children

Interpretation

The love in your family runs quietly: you give steadily, and you have to say out loud what you want back.

Think about how you are with your parents now.

You remember the dates, you sort out the practical things, you are the one who stays calm when something needs handling, and you rarely say any of it out loud.

Your Phụ Mẫu (the palace about parents and elders) palace (the palace of parents) holds Thái Dương in hãm địa, a sun that has lost its light, and the common reading of that is duty carried steadily while the warmth comes back quieter than the effort.

The old texts treat a dimmed Thái Dương in this place as affection that runs under the surface, so you give more than you announce.

That is not a fault in you and it is not a verdict on anyone else. It means the warmth you want from that side has to be asked for rather than waited for.

Notice how you are with brothers and sisters, or with the people who have stood in that place for you.

You keep things pleasant, you do not push, and when something is left unsaid you let it stay unsaid rather than open it up.

Your Huynh Đệ (the palace about siblings) palace (the palace of siblings) holds Thiên Đồng (the major star read as ease and enjoyment) in hãm địa together with Đà La, and it also meets Tuần, which the common reading takes as a bond that stays polite on the surface while small frictions turn slowly underneath.

Thiên Đồng is a gentle star, so you are not looking for a fight, but Đà La keeps a thing circling inside you instead of letting it go. The usual reading here is distance rather than confrontation, and distance is something you can choose without anyone losing face.

Then there is the way you look after the people younger than you, whether that is your own child or anyone you are guiding.

You plan for them the way you plan a set of accounts: what they need next term, what has to be ready before it is needed, what to do if something slips. Your Tử Tức (the palace about children) palace (the palace of children) is vô chính diệu, read through the stars opposite, and those are Thiên Cơ and Thái Âm (the major star read as the moon and saving up) with Thiên Mã and Thiên Hư.

The common reading of that combination is a parent who thinks ahead and moves for the child's sake, and who can also carry a quiet worry that never quite settles. The worry is the part to watch, not the care.

You are also in a ten-year cycle (a ten-year stage of the chart) that runs through this same Tử Tức palace, from your mid-thirties to your mid-forties.

The ordinary way to read that is a stretch where the family side of life asks for your attention and your arrangements, without a fixed script to follow. That fits a household with a young child and a working week that already has little slack in it.

What helps is deciding in advance what you will and will not take on, rather than deciding in the moment when you are already tired. The people around you do better with your clear yes and your clear no than with your silent over-extension.

What to do

  1. This Sunday evening, call one of your parents and ask one specific question about their week rather than reporting on yours. You are quick to handle the practical side and slow to ask for anything back, and a question puts the exchange on even ground.
  2. This week, write down the one small thing a sibling or relative did that still nags at you, then decide whether to raise it or drop it for good. You tend to let a friction circle quietly instead of settling it, and choosing once ends the circling.
  3. Twice this week, once at bath time and once at the weekend, put your phone in another room for twenty minutes while you are with your child or whoever you are guiding. You think ahead for them constantly, and being fully present for a short stretch is what they actually notice.

Each ten-year stage passes through one palace, counted in East Asian age. The filled box is the current stage. The table below lists ten years from the year of the reading: each year's stem and branch, East Asian age, year palace and small-cycle palace, and the stage it belongs to.

Interpretation

You are in the middle of a long working stretch, not waiting for one, and the next three years reward depth over leaps.

The stretch you are in

The long working stretch you are inside now runs to 2034, and it is asking you to go deeper rather than sideways.

The stretch you are standing in now opened in 2025 and runs to the end of 2034, so counting this year there are nine years left in it.

That is long enough that it should feel less like a waiting room and more like the working decade you are actually in.

On the chart this ten-year cycle passes through the Tử Tức palace, which has no major star (the fourteen major stars of the chart) of its own and is read through what shines to it from the opposite side, with Thái Dương and Cự Môn supporting from the sides.

The common reading of a stretch like this is that it favours steady use of skills you already have over launching something untested.

For you that means the years up to 2034 are best spent deepening what you are already good at, the same trade, sharper, with more of it, rather than a new identity. The pace here is deliberate, and deliberate is not slow.

The year 2026

This year is for being the person whose work is beyond question, not for betting on anything new.

In 2026 the year's own transformations land with Hóa Lộc on Thiên Đồng, Hóa Quyền on Thiên Cơ, and Hóa Kỵ on Liêm Trinh.

A year carrying a transformation on the money side like that is not a year to leave payments loose. Put your weight this year into the parts of your work where you are simply better than the person next to you: the reconciliations, the clean month-end, the client who trusts your numbers.

Keep a light rein on anything that asks you to commit money you cannot see the far side of. What you build this year is mostly the reputation of being the person who gets it exactly right, and that is worth more than it sounds.

The next two years: 2027 and 2028

The two years after this one both ask you to hold steady and let your results do the talking.

In 2027 the year moves onto your money ground, and the stars sitting there are the same ones that will carry the next decade of your life.

That year is better for consolidating than for expanding: finish what you started, hold your rates steady, and let the visible results speak. In 2028 the year comes back around to the ground your current ten-year cycle runs through, with Hóa Kỵ falling on Thiên Cơ.

That is a year to keep your own counsel on money questions and to double-check the arithmetic before you sign anything. Neither year asks you to make a leap; both ask you to be the person whose numbers are beyond argument.

The next stretch

The next decade changes the flavour of your working life, and you can start getting ready for it now.

The next stretch begins in 2035 and runs to 2044, ten years through the Tài Bạch palace, where Liêm Trinh and Thất Sát sit at đắc địa with Địa Không and Thiên Tài alongside them.

That is a different flavour from where you are now: less about quietly doing the thing well, more about handling money and decisions that carry weight.

The sensible preparation, started now and not in 2035, is to have the unglamorous parts in order well before you need them. Know your own numbers cold, and get used to making a call without waiting for someone to confirm it was the right one.

What to do

  1. This Sunday evening, open your calendar and block one evening a month through the end of the year as your own review time, and keep the first one this week. You tend to give your best attention to other people's deadlines, and this is the one slot where the deadline is yours.
  2. On Monday morning this week, before you open your inbox, spend ten minutes writing down the two things you want to be visibly better at by the end of the year. You hold plans in your head where they stay fuzzy, and writing them down gives you something concrete to measure against.
  3. Before the end of this month, pick one file, drawer or folder of your own that has been half-sorted for months and finish it in a single sitting. You are tidy and exact with other people's records and looser with your own, and closing that gap now means far less to untangle when the ground shifts in 2035.

Part 9Five things to do

  1. Write one page listing the five tasks you want to be doing day to day two years from now, then hold every job option against that page.

    Why
The Quan Lộc palace carries Tử Vi with Hóa Quyền, so your working life answers to a clear sense of authority and direction rather than drift. (see part 4: Work and career)
    When
This week, before any conversation about the move, and again in 2027.
A sign you are on track
You can name your five tasks without checking your notes, and at least one job option clearly fails two of them.
  2. Open your last three months of statements and mark every charge you cannot explain in ten seconds, then move a fixed sum into a separate account the day your pay clears.

    Why
Vũ Khúc sits in your Mệnh palace with Hóa Kỵ, which is why money matters sharpen when you look straight at them and blur when you leave them alone. (see part 5: Money)
    When
This weekend, then on every payday through 2026.
A sign you are on track
The unexplained charges shrink each month and the separate account has a balance you did not touch.
  3. Book one hour this weekend to sketch your first three months of self-employment week by week, and put the monthly household figure you need at the top of the page.

    Why
Your current ten-year luck pillar runs through the Tử Tức palace with no main star, so this stretch rewards a picture you build yourself rather than one handed to you. (see part 2: The question you brought)
    When
This weekend, and keep the page where you can see it through 2026.
A sign you are on track
The sketch has real weeks and real numbers in it, and you know whether the idea excites you or only sounds good.
  4. On Thursday evening, name one thing you need help with next week and the day you need it, then on Saturday spend thirty minutes putting one shared plan on paper together.

    Why
Your Phu Thê palace has no main star, so closeness here is built by saying things plainly rather than by expecting the other person to read the room. (see part 6: Love and marriage)
    When
This week, and repeat the Thursday habit through the rest of 2026.
A sign you are on track
You asked once and got an answer without having to explain why you were asking.
  5. Pick one drawer, folder or half-sorted pile of your own this week and finish it in a single sitting, and twice this week put your phone in another room for twenty minutes while you are with your child.

    Why
You are exact with other people's records and looser with your own, and the pull of Kiếp Tài and Thiên Không in the chart shows where your attention leaks away from what is yours. (see part 8: Where you are on the road)
    When
Start this week and keep both habits through 2026, so less is left to untangle by 2035.
A sign you are on track
The drawer stays closed and the twenty minutes happen without you reaching for the phone.

This reading is one way of reading the chart by the books, together with a practitioner's explanation. It shows tendencies, not a guarantee of what will come. What you do day by day is what shapes the road. The decisions are yours.

Basis and sources

The chart in this reading is worked out from the calendar and from the star-placement rules of the books: this is the part anyone can check. The date and hour of birth are converted to the lunar calendar by the new moon and the solar terms, reckoned in Vietnam time and checked against astronomical data from NASA and the Paris Observatory. From there the Mệnh palace, the Thân palace, the cục and the place of each star are set by fixed rules from the year, month, day and hour of birth, as in the section on placing the Thân and Mệnh palaces of Ziwei Doushu Quanshu. Anyone who draws the chart again by the same rules gets exactly that chart. The stars of Tử Vi are conventional calendar stars: their names are borrowed from the Ziwei Enclosure and the Northern Dipper of ancient astronomy, but their places on the chart are not the positions of heavenly bodies in the sky at birth.

The reading starts from Ziwei Doushu Quanshu. Tradition attributes the book to Chen Tuan of the Song dynasty; the preface under the name of Luo Hongxian is dated 1550. Modern scholarship does not treat that attribution as proven: the thesis of Liao Wei-Juin (2020) went through Song and Yuan bibliographies and found no mention of this art before the Ming. The title appears in the Wanli Xu Daozang, but the three-chapter text in the Daozang uses a set of stars different from that of the Quanshu. The Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty for 1644, Vũ trung tùy bút by Pham Dinh Ho and the Nôm text An tử vi quốc ngữ ca show that the art was already in use in Korea and Vietnam. Stéphanie Homola and Richard J. Smith examine it as a subject of history and culture.

No study has shown that a Tử Vi chart is right about character or about what is to come. The only direct test Nhật Nguyệt has found is the thesis of Teo Huay Ching (2018): three long-practising readers read the charts of 243 students, and on the whole their readings did not correlate with standard psychological scales. For Western astrology, the review by Dean and Kelly (2003) pooled more than forty controlled studies and found no result above chance. This reading therefore does not say in advance what is to come and does not replace professional advice. It is a way of reading by the old books, with a tradition of several hundred years, for the reader to look at themselves again and arrange their work. The reader is the one who decides.

Where the schools read it differently

  • The yearly small cycle is started and counted differently by some schools; this reading follows the method Nhật Nguyệt uses.
  • The yearly stars (yearly Lộc Tồn, Kình Dương, Đà La and Thiên Mã) are placed from the stem and branch of the year being read, by the same rules as the natal stars. This reading does not use yearly Văn Xương and Văn Khúc (only some schools do, and their placement rule is read in two ways), and some schools use no yearly stars at all.
  • The set of formations Nhật Nguyệt recognises is deliberately small: only those whose conditions the books agree on. A chart may also fit other formations found in the books.
  • This reading does not interpret the Tật Ách (health) palace on its own.
  • The table of the twelve months starts from the yearly Đẩu Quân of the year being read, counted from the yearly Thái Tuế palace. Monthly periods are placed in several ways: some schools start from the small-cycle palace, some keep the natal Đẩu Quân without moving it each year; leap months are not counted separately.
  • This chart follows the version most used in Vietnam (Tử Vi Đẩu Số Tân Biên). The Four Transformations for the stems Canh, Tân and Nhâm differ between schools. For Canh, this chart uses Thiên Đồng as Hóa Khoa and Thái Âm as Hóa Kỵ; some books give Thái Âm as Hóa Khoa and Thiên Đồng as Hóa Kỵ, others Thiên Phủ as Hóa Khoa and Thiên Đồng as Hóa Kỵ. Some minor stars, such as Hỏa Tinh, Linh Tinh, Hồng Loan and Thiên Hình, are not placed yet.
