Quick answer

What is Rija Nagar, and is it the Chăm New Year?

Rija Nagar (Rija Nâgar) is the community-level new year festival of the village among the Chăm people who follow Brahmanism, also called the lễ tống ôn (rite to send away misfortune). It takes place in the first month of the Chăm calendar. Many Chăm people call Ka-tê and Ra-mư-wan the Tết of their people, while Rija Nâgar is not called a New Year Tết in the sense of the passing from the old year to the new.
