Quick answerHow do the Diamond Sutra and the Heart Sutra differ?
The Diamond Sutra, translated by Kumarajiva during the Later Qin, is longer and centres on the dialogue between the Buddha and Subhuti about the Bodhisattva's practice of liberating beings without clinging to marks. The Heart Sutra, translated by Xuanzang during the Tang, is only a little over two hundred Chinese characters and centres on the dialogue between Avalokiteshvara and Shariputra about the emptiness of the five aggregates and all dharmas. Both belong to the Prajnaparamita system.
