Left Support and Right Assistant flank Mệnh when Mệnh falls in a palace with these two stars in the adjacent palaces. Tử Vi Đẩu Số toàn thư records that Left Support starts from Thìn in the first lunar month and moves clockwise, while Right Assistant starts from Tuất in the first lunar month and moves counter-clockwise, so the two stars can only flank the Mùi palace (born in the 3rd or 5th lunar month) or the Sửu palace (9th or 11th month). The book gives the example of Mệnh in Sửu, Left Support in Tý and Right Assistant in Dần; according to the star placement formula, that is a person born in the 9th month.
