Linh Sơn Thánh Mẫu (also known as Bà Đen) is the presiding deity of Bà Đen Mountain in Tây Ninh. According to the most widespread legend, she is the incarnation of Lý Thị Thiên Hương, a girl of talent and beauty who remained faithful to the end and took her own life to preserve her chastity. Because of her sacredness and her fidelity, King Gia Long bestowed on her the title 'Linh Sơn Thánh Mẫu'.
