The most distinctive feature of Pút Tồng is that the entire ceremony is performed through dances and dancing, combined with music from drums, thanh la (a small gong), não bạt (cymbals) and the invocations of the ritual master. The ceremony consists of 11 steps, in which men play the leading role, reflecting the patrilineal social structure of the Red Dao. The ceremony was inscribed as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2013.
