A vạn niên calendar gives the lunar date and the Can Chi, but casting Bát Tự requires additional information on tiết khí (solar terms), because the month in Bát Tự is determined by the solar term that begins it, not by the first day of the lunar month. You should also note the day change at 23:00 and the year change at the Lập Xuân solar term. It is therefore best to use a vạn niên calendar that records the solar terms, or to cross-check with dedicated software.
