Quick answerIs a static line struck by the day always bad?
No. Tăng San Bốc Dịch says ám động can be favorable or unfavorable, depending on whether that line generates or controls the dụng thần (useful god). As for nhật phá, the book calls it even more useless, but the example hexagram in the book shows that a nhật phá line still responds to events on the very same day.
