Tỷ Kiên is one of the ten Thập Thần (Ten Gods), representing oneself, siblings, friends, colleagues and competition. It is determined when a stem or branch in the chart shares the same ngũ hành (Five Elements) and the same âm dương (yin or yang) as the Nhật Can (the day stem of the person whose chart is being read). For example, if the Nhật Can is Giáp Dương Mộc (Yang Wood), then Giáp stems in other pillars or the Dần branch containing the Giáp qi are Tỷ Kiên.
